拉钢式冷床，其特点是利用单爪绳式或链式拉钢机，横向成批拖运轧件。这种拉钢机往往配备有潜行装置，以达到有选择性地拖运某一根（束）轧件的目的。潜行装置有两种形式：一种是杠杆式，另一种是滑块式。

针对角钢试生产初期冷床下钢发生倾翻的特点及原因，作业区技术人员指导岗位自己设计制作了防止角钢倾翻装置，通过冷床长度的测量及冷床裙板至冷床齿条距离，选定防止角钢倾翻装置的位置及长度，利用装置自身重力，从而实现角钢的稳定下钢，顺利进入冷床。
