佛像，即佛之形像。地藏菩萨像大地一样，能含藏种种功德，能引生一切功德，难行苦行，救度众生，故名地藏。广义上的佛像还包含菩萨、罗汉、明王等多种佛人物形象。随着佛文化传入中国，佛像也开始盛行开来，收藏佛像也逐渐成为很多人的“雅好”。近些年，国内的佛像市场开始急剧升温，不少工艺精湛、制作精良的珍贵传世佛像相继拍出高价乃至“天价”。

明永乐释迦牟尼坐像，是世界现存体形较大，保存***完好的鎏金佛像。绀青螺发，顶有鎏金宝珠，面庞圆润，额有白毫，修眉细目。

该造像不同于一般铜鎏金造像的是，这件佛像有完整的须弥佛座，以及完整的背光装饰。风格华丽，尽显皇家造像的“富贵气”。在这件佛像底部的封底，刻有红色藏文真言咒语，在佛像内部，还藏有泥金梵字经咒和香。
