Fei Liu to open concession in Tokyo

LONDON, September 6, 2010 – Jewellery designer Fei Liu, who brings together Western and Eastern contemporary influences, says he plans to open a concession in the prestigious Mitsukoshi department store in Tokyo on September 11, 2010.

***aller scale pieces, with precious materials, primarily 18-k gold and platinum, and specific in size, appeal to the demanding Japanese client, Fei Liu told Jewellery Outlook in an interview at his booth at International Jewellery London (IJL) today.
“Japan is a very, very individual market,” he said. “They take Western influence and combine it with their Japanese heritage.”

He added, “The Japanese certainly know what they want.”

Birmingham, England-based Fei Liu, who has many clients for bespoke pieces, has been active in the Chinese market for more than a year and sees enormous potential there.

“The Chinese market will be especially important to the British designer in the future,” he said. “The Chinese market is looking forward to see British-designed jewellery.”
