以美国***仪器公司(National Instruments,　以下简称NI)的无线传感器网络为例。NI的无线传感器网络中每一个节点都能够被配置成路由节点。根据应用的需要，工程师可以选择树形拓扑结构或者网状拓扑结构。如下图所示，在网状拓扑下，节点4拥有两条通往网关的通道，一旦节点1发生故障而损坏，数据也能够通过节点2传回网关，避免数据的丢失。
